Children colour for children in need: Proceeds from the pictures go to support education projects in conflict affected areas

Children are natural-born artists and colouring is of great importance for their development.

As such, STAEDTLER is calling out for support of the first World Kids Colouring Day to be held on 6 May 2008. In this special colouring campaign, children the world over are invited to colour and sell their most beautiful works to family and friends. The proceeds will then be donated to a good cause.

STAEDTLER will use these donations to support underprivileged children in conflict affected areas, offering them an opportunity to receive a better education and a chance to escape poverty.

The universal language of pictures is understood the world over and unites children on all continents. Especially for small children still discovering their world, colouring is an important form of expression. Adults are naturally needed for the organisation of World Kids Colouring Day activities as well. The possibilities to create lovely pictures and trade them for a donation to a very worthy cause are unlimited. Whether a street colouring festival, a school contest or an auction - ideas revolving around the theme of "colouring" can be realised just about anywhere. Among all participants registering via the new website www.world-kids-colouring-day-canada.com STAEDTLER will recognise the donation champions organising the best and largest colouring campaigns.

STAEDTLER's partner of the World Kids Colouring Day is Save the Children. As the world's largest independent child rights organisation, Save the Children works to help children and their families escape the vicious circle of poverty, disease and inadequate education.

With the World Kids Colouring Day, we at STAEDTLER want to emphasise how important colouring is for child development. With the World Kids Colouring Day, we also want to give security and stability to those children who need it most - those who have no family or education.
